PESI Announces the Mental Health Summit That Is Going to Take Place in June
Non-profit organization PESI will host its first mental health summit in June, focusing on the LGBTQIA+ community, with a panel of speakers including Margaret Conley, Angie Guna, and Shanea Thomas, and Rizi Timane as the keynote speaker.
Los Angeles, California–(Newsfile Corp. – May 19, 2022) – PESI is a non-profit organization that has focused on providing the required education to professionals across the US, related to the acceptance of the LGBT community since 1979. In line with their aim, the organization is now holding a Mental Health Summit focusing on various challenges several individuals and diverse communities face. The event will be held in the summer, starting on June 29th and carrying over till July 1st.
Dr. Rizi Timane LCSW is the founder and lead therapist at Rizi Timane Psychotherapy and Consulting, who focuses on the LGBTQIA+ community and provides solutions to their mental health.
Timane is a mental health professional who will lead and open the respective event. He has earned a Ph.D. in Counseling from Newburg Theological Seminary and a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW) from the University of Southern California. Furthermore, he received the Transgender Visibility Award, presented by Congressman Mitch O’Farell at the Los Angeles City Hall, for his outstanding contributions to the community.
The Summit will also honor many other speakers, including Jessie Rose Cohen, Lucie Fielding, Carmen Jimenez-Pride, Aaron Testard, Lauren Costine, Margaret Conley, Angie Guna, Shanea Thomas, Joe Kort, and Deborah Coolhart, all of whom are mental health professionals working as mental health specialists.
As the summit will be held online, it is accessible to audiences in the US and worldwide. The summit’s objective is to teach professionals how to implement clinical interventions in their communities to reduce discrimination and microaggressions, traumatic effects of shame and minority stress, and empower self-discovery and self-pride journeys.
